Swedish Investors for Sustainable Development

SISD is a network that brings together some 20 of Sweden's largest asset owners, asset managers and institutional investors. The ambition is to contribute to more sustainable investments in line with the Sustainable Development Goals and the Paris Agreement through exchange of experience, learning and communication.

SISD can be an inspiration to other countries and actors to work with investors and the private sector to achieve the SDGs. Financial actors, pension funds, asset managers and investment companies are important actors in achieving and financing the SDGs.

• Sida and SISD identify, invite and host interesting lecturers and inspires to promote learning on issues clearly identified within the SDGs.
• Discuss the relevance, opportunities and challenges of the SDGs for investors in the international context.
• Stimulate other actors to take action on investments that support the SDGs.
• Explore investment opportunities in line with the 2030 Agenda.
• Discuss prerequisites for work related to the 2030 Agenda.
• Contribute to aligning the global financial system with sustainable development through participating and actively working in the Global Investors for Sustainable Development.

The network meets a few times a year around different topics of interest, including operational level network meetings as well as CEO meetings. SISD also contributes to the international dialogue around the role of investors in the implementation of Agenda 2030 via its active participation in Global Investors for Sustainable Development (GISD) working groups.

SISD was part of the inspiration for the UN to form GISD, which is a group of leaders of major financial institutions and corporations from across the world. It is convened by the United Nations Secretary-General to deliver solutions that scale up private finance and investment to achieve the SDGs.

Sida compiles a yearly report detailing all the activities carried out within the network. This includes learning sessions, shared experiences, international participation and communication, and engagement in GISD. The reports also list activities in the different working groups and gives you a quick glimpse of what lies ahead.
